Google with tough announcement: Unvaccinated people have to stay outside

Those who cannot show a vaccination against the corona virus are thrown out. With this threat, Google has now asked its employees to finally be immunized. First there should be a leave of absence, then a loss of salary. The last step is the termination – but there are exceptions.

Google: Unvaccinated employees face dismissal

In the US, Google is tightening its tone against unvaccinated employees. As reported by CNBC, the group has a three-step approach considered. In the first step, people who have not been immunized against the coronavirus are given leave of absence. If that doesn’t have the desired effect, then Google envisions withholding the salary. If employees remain unvaccinated, they could lose their jobs altogether.

Google gives the report after January 18, 2022 as the new deadline for the stricter regulations (source: CNBC). Then there is a risk of paid compulsory leave for 30 days, which is then extended unpaid for up to six months. Only then could the termination take place, according to CNBC. Existing exemptions are unlikely to be affected. Unvaccinated employees are also allowed to to work permanently in the home officeunless their presence in the office is required.

Until December 3, 2021, employees still had the option to apply for an exemption. This provided that medical or religious reasons sufficient to be exempted from the company’s vaccination policy.
