Google will distribute Android updates for Pixel 6 smartphones later
Anyone who buys a Google smartphone actually expects these Android devices to receive software updates first. That doesn’t seem to be the case with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. While older Google phones are supplied with the latest software, new owners have to wait. Even the competition is faster.

Google normally distributes security updates for its Pixel smartphones on the first Tuesday of each month. My Pixel 6 Pro (for testing) has not yet received anything. While Samsung already supplied various Galaxy smartphones with the December update I have to wait on. And that with a brand new high-end smartphone.
Something similar can be seen with the beta release of Android 12L. The software is available for download for older Pixel smartphones. Are the Pixel 6 models included? Strangely not. Where is the problem? Is it the tensor chip? Or maybe the extensive software adjustments on the new Pixel phones? You do not know exactly. The advantage that you bought for faster updates with a Google mobile phone is somehow no longer available.
The last two updates, where Google improved the fingerprint sensor in the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, for example, which were rolled out at least in the USA, didn’t arrive here in Germany either. Something doesn’t have to be right if Google mobile phones in Germany do not receive software updates or only receive software updates very late.

Android 12L: Google wants to deliver an update for Pixel 6 smartphones
So if you want to try Android 12L, you have to own an older Pixel smartphone. All models are supported from Pixel 3a onwards. The update is to be delivered for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. When exactly this is the case, probably only Google knows. In general, the update policy for the Pixel phones should get better over time. After all, a quick update supply is one of the most important features of the Pixel phones.
