Google Weather widgets now rolled out in different sizes

Google is rolling out an improvement for its new weather forecast widgets. From now on you can adjust the format so that more information is displayed on the screen. You can view the changing weather situation per hour.

Google Weather widgets

Google is making improvements to its new Material You-themed weather widgets. This month we wrote about the new widgets launched with Android 12. They look very minimalistic. One is square in shape with rounded corners and the other is a diagonal pill shape.

Now Google has also changed the appearance of its widgets as you resize it on the screen. Let’s start with the most interesting: the square widget. You can stretch it to a rectangle and then you see the temperature and weather situation change every hour. You will also see the current weather along with the minimum and maximum temperatures for that day.

Less exciting is the diagonal pill. By default it only shows the current temperature and weather situation and when stretching you now get a horizontal pill shape with only the highest and lowest temperature as extra information.

availabilty

The new weather widgets have been launched for the first time for testers of the Android 12 beta and for those who have version 12.42 beta of the Google app. The extra information for custom sizes is not yet available to everyone. Here at the editors, we don’t see it on our phones yet, nor on Pixels running the stable version of Android 12. Do you already see the widgets? Send us a screenshot this way and show off in the comments at the bottom of this article.

Thanks for the screenshot, Patrick!
