Google Pixel Watch now shows you the time even when the battery is empty

Thanks to a software update, you can now see the time on your Google Pixel Watch even when the battery is empty. In addition, Pixel Watch owners will get even more new features with this update.

The “March 2023” update is now rolling out to the Pixel Watch, and Google is announcing more details via the support page. The Wear OS watch can count on several bug fixes and improvements, as well as new features.

One of the biggest improvements is the ability to view the time even after the Pixel Watch’s battery runs out. Since the battery life is the biggest pain point of this watch, this new feature comes in handy. This is not a new function, the Apple Watch has been able to do this for years. Unfortunately, the details that Google provides are a bit sparse. It is not clear how long you can read the time on the screen when the battery is at 0%. At least we know that the time is shown when you press the button on the side, next to the red colored battery low indicator.

In the coming weeks, Google will also roll out a fix via the Play Store that should solve this problem with the alarm clock on the Pixel Watch. In addition, the Pixel Watch gets the long-awaited fall detection function. This allows the watch to be a lifesaver if you fall while hiking or mountain biking and need help. In addition to tapping, tilting and pressing buttons to wake the watch, you can now also turn the crown to wake the watch.
