Google Pixel 8 screen specs now also leaked
As we predicted, even more about the Google Pixel 8 has leaked: this time the screen specifications. Much more has become known about that screen from both the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro, although it remains unofficial information that does not come from Google itself.
Pixel 8
Android Authority’s Kamila Wojciechowska is once again leaking information about the Pixel 8 and has been doing so for a few weekends now. This time she has opted for the screen specs and they turn out to be quite different from those of the Pixels before. For example, the Pixel 8 has a smaller screen than the 6.3 inch that we are used to from the normal device: 6.17 inch has been chosen. The Pixel 8 Pro, on the other hand, does nothing new, which is 6.7 inches in size, just like the previous Pro. But there is something else: the phone does not have a round but a flat panel.
It’s a matter of taste, so whether you like this news or not is personal. The rounded corners of both models have also been slightly modified. For example, Pixel 7’s corner radius was 47 pixels while Pixel 8’s is 102 pixels. With the Pro it was 50 pixels and is now 115 pixels. In normal words, that means the screen is a little less square and yes, a little more Material You.
Brightness up
The resolution also changes. Google Pixel 8 Pro has a resolution of 2,992 x 1,344 pixels and that was 3,120 x 1,440 pixels with the luxury variant of number seven. The pixel density was first 512 and now 490. With Pixel 8, the resolution does not change, but the density is a bit higher at 427 instead of 417 (after all, the screen is also somewhat smaller). The brightness of the screens of both devices also increases, Pixel 8 can handle 1,4000 nits at its peak and that was 1,000 on Pixel 7. Pro takes it a step further with 1,600 nits instead of 1,000 on the 7 Pro.
Pixel 8 will have a 120 Hz screen and Pixel 8 Pro will have a variable refresh rate between 60 Hz and 120 Hz. The advantage of this is that the refresh rate can be better adjusted to the content. Handy if it is nice and high for gaming, but nice and low for viewing photos. Both screens can even go to 5 Hz to save some battery.

Other panel?
Another notable change is that Google probably won’t go to the same panel supplier as usual. Samsung may be pushed aside for another company, perhaps BOE. It is unclear whether that is correct, whether it depends on the device, or whether it is sheer nonsense: after all, we are still in the rumor phase.
