Google Photos rolls out handy ‘Locked Folder’ feature to everyone
The Google Photos Android app is being expanded with a series of new capabilities. From now on, anyone can use the ‘Locked Folder’ feature. Previously, this feature was only available for the Pixel devices. But what exactly can you do with it?
Locked folder in Google Photos
You can shield photos in various gallery apps from manufacturers. Because, for example, you prefer to keep these for yourself. You can now also store these kinds of photos and videos in a locked folder with the Google Photos app. This hides sensitive photos from the total overview of photos and videos that are stored, but they remain accessible to you. This new feature was previously distributed for the Pixel devices and the feature was announced in May.
The Locked Folder feature allows items in other places in Google Photos and other apps to be hidden on this device. The files in this folder will not be added to the backup and will also be deleted if Google Photos is deleted from the device. The locked folder can be accessed using the device’s screen lock. The option can be found in the tools, in the Google Photos app.
