Google Photos now lets you zoom in on videos
It is now possible to zoom in in Google Photos when viewing a video. You can zoom in and out with your thumb and forefinger or by double tapping. Google is now rolling out the feature.
Videos in Google Photos
Google is sometimes criticized that in its gallery app, videos are rather poorly endowed with photos. There are already many rich functionalities around photos, including the brand new photo editor. the same cannot be said for videos you view or edit in Google Photos.
Google is now introducing an improvement to the Google Photos video experience. The company is rolling out a feature that lets you zoom in and zoom out when you watch a movie. You do that exactly as you would expect, namely with your thumb and forefinger on the screen. You can also tap twice in quick succession to zoom in and out, and when you are zoomed in, you can also swipe the screen in all directions to move the zoomed frame. In the gif below you can see the function at work.

And that brings us to the less good news. Google is rolling out this feature in the form of a server-side update. This means that some of the users can work with it, but some cannot. You also cannot update your phone to a newer version to force the functionality to work on your device.
At our office, zooming in only works on part of our phones. Does it already work for you? Let us know in the comments at the bottom of this article.
