Google is cleaning up the Play Store: Settings should be clearer

The Play Store is about to make a makeover: After the hamburger menu has already been decided on, Google is now devoting itself to the settings. Obviously they are clearer and lead to the goal faster. The first pictures already show what users could expect.

At regular intervals, Google tinkers with the design of its own Android apps in order to keep them up to date and to keep up with the times. Most recently it became known that the hamburger menu in the Google Play Store is to be withdrawn, which, among other things, will remove a major source of errors in gesture control. But the settings menu itself has apparently also been redesigned.

Google Play Store: Settings are divided into four areas

At least that’s what pictures suggest Android Police were leaked. There you can see that the settings in the Google Play Store will be divided into four areas in the future. Among other things, there are general settings, a family area and device-specific setting options. There is also a submenu for security-relevant settings such as fingerprints or purchase authentication. These screenshots show what it looks like:

It is easy to see that the new settings (left) are now clearer. Although the user now has to type more than the old settings (right), the menu looks tidier overall and is less overwhelming with its options.

Quiz and puzzle apps are ideal for fun in between:

New settings so far only an A / B test

Since it is reportedly a so-called A / B test, it is not known whether Google will actually opt for this design and enable it for all users. It would be desirable, however, if it would give the chaotic settings in the Google Play Store a little more order.
