Google mistakenly offers Android 12 instead of Android 13 to users

Google released the final version of Android 13 for Pixels this week, and yet users are being offered Android 12… even though this version is already installed on their devices.

There are several testimonials about Reddit and on Twitter. At first glance, you might think it’s a display error and the list of changes is Android 12, but the downloaded update is actually Android 13. And yet , This is not the case. Users have just downloaded what was offered to them and noticed that nothing had changed: it was still about Android 12.

Users also report that the update to Android 13 first appeared on their phone, but when they wanted to download it a few hours later, Android 12 was offered instead. In some cases, the update to Android 13 appeared as a download after reinstalling Android 12.

Judging by testimonials, the users most affected by the bug are those with a Pixel 6, although some Pixel 4a and 5a owners are also in the same situation.

It’s hard to say why this problem exists, especially since it doesn’t affect everyone. A potential solution is to restart your phone and check for available updates again.
