Google lets you see sights in 3D

See sights in 3D on Google Maps from Android or iOS. You can now.

Roaming in satellite view over Google Maps can be entertaining, but also a bit distant. Over the years, Google innovates more and more to make it more fun. Perhaps the best innovation is the introduction of 3D on Google Maps.

It is now possible to view the object in 3D from nearly 100 landmarks around the world. This can be done on Google Maps on iOS and Android. These include the Big Ben in London, the Empire State Building in New York and the Alcatraz prison in San Francisco. The company announced this in a blog.

The 3D view allows you to view the object from all angles. Ideal if you are planning a holiday and want to see a virtual preview. Google will probably add more sights to the list of 3D views.

According to Google, the 3D view on Google Maps helps, for example, to add a point of interest to your list of things to see. Thanks to 3D you can, among other things, view a building such as the Empire State Building from afar or up close. That is quite different from a picture on the search engine or a satellite view from above.
