Google launches an update against high battery consumption Pixels

Unfortunately, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 suffer greatly: high battery consumption. However, that is now coming to an end: Google has launched an update that makes the rapid draining of the battery a thing of the past.

Google managed to remedy the problem by releasing an update for the Google app. Google admitted to 9to5Google that it is aware of the battery issues of some Pixel phones and that it has therefore released this update that would immediately fix the problem. You don’t have to do anything yourself. It’s called a server-side update, which means you don’t need to update your operating system or any app.

It is not about a long-term problem with the battery life of the smartphones: they showed all kinds of problems at the end of last week that had to do with overheating, among other things. The battery therefore drained so quickly that it seemed as if you were outside in -30. For some users, the battery lost half its power. At least, fortunately not forever, because thanks to this update, the battery life is back to normal.

Security update

The security update that appeared on May 12 for Pixels seems to have been the cause of the problems. Normally you would think: then we go back to the old, but that made no sense – because it is a server side update. Now the solution has arrived and you can count on a screen time longer than 3 hours again. And again: you don’t have to do anything for that.

Incidentally, it will not solve the somewhat larger battery problems. As we wrote in the review of Google Pixel 7 Pro: “The battery life is disappointing and I had hoped for higher speeds in terms of charging. 23 watts is really outdated. In addition, the Pixel 7 Pro gets very hot in some cases.” So that will still remain, but the problem that popped up quite suddenly after May 12 is in any case over.
