Google is testing a new call screen with AI for Pixel
Pixel Call Assistant is one of the things that makes Google products different from the rest, but there’s more to come. A beta test is now underway with new capabilities specifically for the call screen.
Call screen
Google has previously announced the beta, but so far it has been a somewhat sneaky beta. Now the beta is going public, but only in the United States on Pixel 6 and Pixel 7. Still, it’s interesting because not only is there an update coming for the call screen in terms of how it looks in terms of settings, but there’s also a new level of protection of how certain calls are screened. Basic means that only known spam callers are suppressed, medium means that it is suspicious calls and known spam that is answered with no and then there is maximum, where unknown numbers are screened and known spam is suppressed.
In addition, Google wants to fully use the Tensor chip to use AI capabilities, writes 9to5Google. This involves more natural speech information about who is calling and why. The idea behind it is that you get more out of your call screen and can avoid robot calls.
AI assistance
Ultimately, Google wants to ensure that you never have to be annoyed when you receive a call and that you can always assume that when you receive a call you will at least receive an important call that you are really waiting for. Before that happens and even more options appear, we will probably have already arrived at the Pixel 8, which we expect this fall.
