Google is finally changing Drive Management from your computer. This awaits us
As we informed you in February this year, Google has decided to tidy up its computer tools for backing up to Disk storage. While “pros” with business or school accounts at G Suite / Workspace have used Drive File Stream, regular users have relied on Backup and Sync. Now everyone will use Drive for desktop. After the American company announced in February mainly the differences between these services, we now know the exact dates of the transition.
- From July 19, 2021 Backup and Sync will begin introducing and offering a seamless transition to Drive for desktop.
- From August 18, 2021 Backup and Sync users will start receiving notifications prompting them to switch to Drive for desktop.
- From October 1, 2021 The Backup and Sync login will stop working, and the user will need to use Drive for desktop to manage content from the computer.
