Google Home app coming to Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and 5
The Google Home app will be available soon for the first Wear OS users. And then it comes to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and 5 series. You can then control smart devices from your wrist: from your smart lamps to the thermostat.
Google Home for Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and 5
It was previously leaked, but now the Google Home app is also available to the first Galaxy Watch users. All your smart devices appear in a list on your smartwatch, and those buttons are reminiscent of the new Home app layout for phones. The button with which you turn on the lamps also works as a slider with which you set the brightness.
Test users of the Google Home app can install the app on their watch first. This works via the Public Preview, which is a new test program from Google Home for which you can apply. The program will be available very soon, but a specific date is unknown. Once you are admitted, you can be one of the first to test the Wear OS app on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and 5, and soon also on the Pixel Watch. If you use the link below on a smartphone or tablet, you can already register for the Public Preview.
More useful than the Assistant
The new Google Home app only works on Wear OS 3.0 watches. Also keep in mind that the smartwatch app may still have many bugs as it is still in a testing phase. The current way to control smart home devices with your watch is by using the Google Assistant. The addition of the Home app is therefore certainly an added value on smartwatches.
