Google Hangouts will end in November: here’s the alternative

Google has announced more about the discontinuation of the Hangouts chat service. It often happens that Google kills a service, now it’s Hangouts’ turn. Fortunately, there is an alternative.

In November 2022, Google will stop messaging Google Hangouts. Stopping the service has been in the air for a long time and necessary changes have already been made. After all, a replacement is already there. The service will be replaced by Google Chat, a function that is also available via Gmail on the desktop, and in the Gmail mobile app. Those not over yet will be migrated from Google Hangouts to Google Chat starting in July.

When you now use the Google Hangouts app, you will be notified of the change through a notification in the app. The notification says that Hangouts will stop and that you should switch to Chat. This can be done via Chat in Gmail, or via the Google Chat app. During the migration, the chat history from Hangouts can be transferred to Chat, so you don’t lose anything.
