Google Fit and Fitbit statistics can now be requested via Google Assistant

Google Fit and Fitbit are both popular platforms for managing your health performance. Your walk, the number of steps and so on. Everything can be collected there. From now on you can link the two services to the Google Assistant.

Google Fit and Fitbit via Google Assistant

The Google Assistant has been expanded with a handy improvement. At the front you can ask the assistant for help with your health data. It concerns the statistics collected by Google Fit and by Fitbit. You can now request the data with a voice command via the Google Assistant. For example, you can ask how many steps you took today or last week. It is also possible to request today’s heart rate. With Fitbit you also get to see the training zones, such as peak cardio and the number of minutes you spent burning fat. Another question you can ask through the Google Assistant is how many calories you have burned and what the distance covered is. Any sleep data can also be requested in this way.

The questions you can ask are for example;

  • How many steps have I taken today?
  • What is my heart rate?
  • How many calories have I burned?

The answers you get from the Google Assistant are in the form of cards. These show which platform the data comes from, and when it was last synced. The information is not shown by default after asking the question. You still have to activate this yourself in the settings in the Google Home app. To do this, follow the steps below.

Go to the Google Home app and tap your profile picture. Then choose ‘Assistant settings’. Scroll all the way down and select “Wellness.” Here you choose Activity and you can connect Google Fit and/or Fitbit. It may be possible in the future to request the information via a smart display, such as the Nest Hub.
