‘Google comes with crowdsource solution for Find My Device’

Apple recently made some changes to its ‘Find my iPhone’ service. Google has now also planned changes for Android. Crowdsource will be used.

Nothing is more annoying than losing your phone. Apple came up with a solution to this some time ago; AirTags. Just as we know them as with Samsung, it becomes possible to find devices with these types of devices. The AirTags of other users can also detect these devices, increasing the chance of finding the device. After Samsung and Apple, Google now also seems to be working on changes for this.

According to XDA colleagues, Google is working on an alternative to the Android version of ‘Find my Device’. This currently works on the basis of information supplied via GPS and (mobile) networks. At Apple, it also works on devices such as other users’ iPhones; at Samsung, for example, with the SmartTags. Google now also seems to be working on the same system where other Android devices can be enabled to detect your device.
