Shopify starts cooperation with publishers for product links

A new service allows publishers to earn money with links to Shopify products. Shopify wants to offer an alternative to Amazon.

Shopify is launching a new affiliate service. How The information has learned from insiders, publishers should receive commissions for links to retailers from the Shopify network. Buzzfeed is therefore one of the first partners.

Alternative to e-commerce giants

Shopify wants to offer publishers and retailers interested in affiliate marketing an alternative to Amazon or Walmart. In addition to Buzzfeed, other media companies are also said to be in discussion with Shopify, including Complex Networks and Vox Media.

Participants can embed links to Shopify products on their pages. In addition, publishers should be able to create their own online shop in which customers can buy products from Shopify sellers without leaving the original website.

Direct contact between publishers and dealers

It is not known how high the commission is for purchases via affiliate links. According to The Information, publishers should negotiate the commissions directly with the dealers.

In October, Shopify had already signed an advertising partnership with Tiktok, through which retailers can advertise on Tiktok.
