Google Chrome for Android test with carousel on home screen

In Google Chrome for Android, testing is done with a carousel. This adjusts the browser’s home screen a bit and gives you access to shortcuts in a different way.

Google Chrome’s Android app may just look different in the future. This is what the colleagues of the German SmartDroid report. They have stumbled upon a new display of the Chrome home page for Android. With the changes, Google probably wants to ensure that Google Discover is more prominently displayed with its news items.

The shortcuts on the Chrome home screen will not disappear with this. What is new, however, is that you can scroll horizontally, so that you do not immediately see all shortcuts. In the new version of Chrome we also see a banner that lets you quickly reopen the most recently closed web page.

It is not known whether Google will roll out the new feature widely, or whether it will be a test among a certain group of users.
