Useful new shortcuts are coming to the toolbar in Google Chrome for Android. You can already test these new shortcuts in Chrome Canary.

Chrome is getting new toolbar shortcuts

It is AssemblyDebug on Twitter who discovered the new toolbar shortcuts in Google Chrome via the so-called flags. As soon as you activate these flags, you will see new icons appear between the address bar and the tab switch button. The first is the Translate button and the second is the Bookmark button. The first lets you quickly translate text in Chrome and the second lets you quickly add a page to your favorites.

To try out these features, you’ll need Chrome 113 on your Android, and that version is currently only available in Chrome’s trial version, Canary. We expect that the flags will also be available in the stable version of Chrome in the next two months. You can already try the new shortcuts by going to chrome://flags and activating the following flags:

Once you have done this, you can go to the Google Chrome settings Toolbar shortcut go to make your choice. If you want one of the two to always be visible, check that option. The new shortcuts are part of the customizable Toolbar Shortcut that Google introduced for Chrome in 2022.
