Google Chrome Android: protect your tabs with your fingerprint!
Browsing the web on your cell phone without leaving a trace isn’t the easiest mission in the world to succeed. Especially if you’re using Chrome from our friends at Google. After all, the American company has become a multi-billionaire by reselling our data, so there is no need for a surprise. However, aware that it is important to restore its image on this side, the dads of Android communicate more and more about the solutions they offer to secure its navigation. Today it concerns access to private tabs.
Google Chrome: how to put a bandage on a cancer?
Google indeed announced on its blog a few days ago that a new feature was now available on its Chrome running Android. You can now biometrically lock your private browsing sessions when you exit the browser. To open them again, you can require biometric authentication. Thus, if someone other than you uses your phone in the meantime, they will not be able to access your private tabs.
If your Chrome is up to date, you will find this option in its settings, in the tab ” Privacy and Security “. You will then find the option “Lock private tabs when you close Chrome”. If you don’t see the option, you can directly follow this link to open in Google’s browser: chrome://flags/#incognito-reauthentication-for-android
Look for the option “Enable device reauthentication for incognito” by searching with the keyword incognito and doing Enabled. You will need to reboot Chrome, but it may not work. Restart your device to finally get the option in ” Privacy and Security “. Validate with your fingerprint.
So the next time you open Chrome, you can find your private tabs by unlocking them with your fingerprint or by entering your PIN code if your phone does not have a reader for the latter. Although we salute the effort, we must remind you that the Google browser is, on the whole, to be avoided at all costs. Prefer a Brave or a good old Duck Duck Go which also has a much funnier name. An argument that matters more than anything in our time.
