Google changes the backup of documents from your computer to Drive
If you’re used to using Google Drive effectively on your computer, you probably have one installed one of the utilities Drive for desktop (Drive for Stream, Czech or Drive File Stream) or Backup and Sync. If you don’t use Google storage for your business, the latter option is most likely relevant to you. But there are a large number of those who like or are forced they use both tools. At the same time, they provide other functions and look a little different, which is definitely not ideal. That’s why Google has decided to create a new disk backup tool later this year. He should take the best of both current programs and then replace them.
The novelty will bear the new name of the first named helper, ie Drive for desktop / Disk for computers. Users of the Backup and Sync tool move to it sometime during the year. But before that happens Google intends to make some changes. Features of the final tool will include, for example, synchronization of local documents, the ability to select files for offline work, USB recording or the popular dark mode. Conversely, the standard folder selection that Backup and Sync users are used to will not work. The result of a future merger you can read from the attached image – in the right column. Google will notify all affected users in a timely manner of the new Drive Backup tool.
