Google changes its Terms of Service to Drive. Restricts files that violate the rules

Similar settings to Facebook. Google is also changing its policies for dealing with unwanted content shared through Drive. So far, personal accounts are out of his interest.

The expected step

Google, as one of the main players, announced its news in the field of impermissible file and content sharing via Drive. Any content that is uploaded to Drive that violates Google’s policies will be restricted. The first step is covered by Google Workspace customers as well as G Suit Basic and Business customers. The company’s intervention will look like such a label next to the file itself, which will come into conflict with the rules, and at the same time it will not be possible to share such content with other people. If the file was already shared before the system tagged it, the download link will not be active. This is what Google’s view of tampering with non-Drive files and content looks like.

How The owner of the item uploaded to the Drive will of course also be notified that such an intervention has taken place and will be able to request a review of the correctness of the procedure. As the algorithm takes care of the initial scan and evaluation of the file as non-compliant, when reporting a bad listing, hired Google employees should already personally verify that the item actually selected violates company policies. This has not happened in the past, the file was simply executed by Google. The deployment of the novelty was activated from December 14, 2021 and for the next two weeks it will be gradually applied to the selected customer segment.

Although the official report does not provide details about personal accounts, it will only be a matter of time before Google implements such policies on them. This is because files that, for example, infringe copyright are shared through private Drive storage, this makes no difference to a business customer who does the same sharing. As Google points out, their storage is not a completely private space where we can keep any content and even share it without control.
