Google Bard is now available to Workspace users
Google Workspace users can now ask questions to Google Bard, Google’s ChatGPT answer. Initially this was still in a kind of early access, but now it is being rolled out further. As long as the Google Workspace administrator in your organization enables it. If this does not happen, then unfortunately you cannot ensure that you can use Bard within Workspace yourself.
Bard
Bard is a language bot that works through the LaMDA language model. It can provide answers to all kinds of questions in natural sentences. The goal is that Bard should answer as naturally as possible and it is therefore a system that continues to learn to get better at it. We were able to test it for a while, but now that also applies to Workspace account holders.
Google writes this in an update on its blog, although it keeps things very short:
Access for Google Workspace accounts
What: Google Workspace admins can now enable Bard for their domains so their users can access Bard through their Workspace accounts.
Why: You can now use Bard for work, research, or other business needs when logged into your admin-enabled Google Workspace account.
Google Workspace
Workspace users were already disappointed that they didn’t have access to Bard, which became available online in March. It is also a bit strange, when you consider that Google does put all kinds of artificial intelligence applications in Workspace products, such as Google Docs. At the same time, those applications are not called Bard, so apparently it wants to keep the chatbot very separate from the rest of the company’s artificial intelligence.
Bard settings for accounts within Workspace are expected under early access apps in the coming days. Bard is the first under that setting, although Google says that other apps will eventually be added.
