Google allows some countries to redeem Play Points for Google t-shirts

Use your Google Play Points to buy Google t-shirts? It seems that this will soon be possible in a number of countries.

Google Play Points

With Google Play Points you can earn points when you buy something in the Play Store. You can compare it with the save-your-stamps promotions in the supermarket where you can save stamps to exchange later for a knife set that you don’t actually need. What you do need is Google merchandise and that will soon be possible with Google Play points.

Currently you can use your saved points for the following:

  • In-app or in-game items
  • Coupons to purchase discounted in-app or in-game items
  • Google Play credit
  • Affiliate Rewards (if applicable)

Added to this is the option to purchase a “Google T-shirt” through the official Google Merchandise Store. 9to5Google discovered this on the basis of a screenshot. The t-shirt requires you to redeem 2,500 Play Points, which is equivalent to $25 in Google Play credit. You may be given a discount code to redeem on the site. The respective offer can only be used five times and is available until June 30.

Since the Google Merchandise Store is only available in the United States and Canada, we assume for the time being that this savings campaign will not come to the Netherlands and Belgium. Unfortunately, we can only buy Google Play credit or in-app or in-game items at a discount, but we hope that Google Netherlands and Belgium will take over the savings campaign.
