Ghost of Tsushima: Players became heroes
Unfortunately, natural disasters do not stop at culture. The Watatsumi Shrine in Tsushima, for example, failed, at least partially, to withstand. Therefore, Priest Yuichi Hirayama started one in November 2020 Growdfunding pageto help rebuild a torii gate.
The promotion ended recently and was a huge success. The priest reached JPY 27,103,882 (around 215,988 euros) more than 540% of the target of 5,000,000 JPY (around 39,340 euros). Over 2000 people contributed to the project, including many fans of the PlayStation game by Sucker Punch.
“We have had a lot of support from the Ghost of Tsushima game, and I feel that this is God’s guidance,” said Hirayama.
Repairs are scheduled to begin in April and be completed by August. As a thank you, the names of those who donated more than JPY 10,000 will be engraved on a stone memorial nearby.
Ghost of Tsushima sold 2.4 million copies in the first three days.
Where is the shrine located?
The Watatsumi Shrine is located in the center of Tsushima and is dedicated to the deities Hikohohodemino Mikoto and Toyotamabime. While the exact shrine is not part of the game, players can visit it as one of the many landmarks on the real island in the future.
On the official Twitter account of the shrine is often posted about the successful game to discuss the accuracy compared to the real island – here, too, people are grateful.
In October 2020, Ghost of Tsushima became Legends extended by a multiplayer modethat allows you to team up with friends to explore amazing places inspired by Japanese folk tales. This will probably not be the last update. We’ll keep you up to date.
