GetYourGuide helps you do fun things
Sometimes it can be annoying: if you are looking for something nice touristy to do in a certain city, you are immediately thrown to the ground with tours from Tripadvisor, Viator and GetYourGuide. However, you will notice that you often eventually come up with something to do during a city trip or holiday, for example. Not bad at all, but is that GetYourGuide app worth it? We discuss it in this App of the Week.
GetYourGuide
Whether you want an exclusive James Bond experience day in London, a city cruise in Berlin or a tour of Amsterdam by pedicab, these are all things you will find in the GetYourGuide app. Very cool, because that way you either experience your own city completely differently, or you learn more about a foreign destination. The great thing is that you can use GetYourGuide both as a website and as an app. In the app you have a handy system that when you log in, there are also tickets in your profile (if you have bought them) that you can have scanned immediately at the activity.
Furthermore, the app is very straightforward: under ‘Discover’ you can search for activities (specifically on a certain activity or only at a certain location), under ‘Wishlist’ you can find the activities that you have sometimes marked as favorite (handily sorted by location), under ‘Bookings’ you will find your tickets for purchases you have made, under ‘Updates’ you will see notifications that your tour will start within 90 minutes and under ‘Profile’ you can see in which currency you are logged in. the activities should be displayed and you can choose which notifications you want to receive.
Doing fun activities
The activities themselves are well described, with often vivid images and even after purchase you have all the information you need at hand, with the boarding location in particular often essential. There is also an option to initiate a cancellation yourself and get your money back, but for this you often have to decide to cancel 24 hours in advance. If you don’t, it will be more difficult. However, you can quickly find customer service in the app and get in touch with someone.
The app is fast, packed with inspiration for fun (and, admittedly, very touristy) activities and you can also easily scan a ticket with it. It is a disadvantage that you see a lot of the same type of activities or often things that are almost the same but just by a different provider. It is also sometimes not so one-two-three exactly which provider it is: GetYourGuide is somewhat vague in that regard, while it actually always uses other providers. As far as we’re concerned, these are points for improvement for the app: being clearer in who exactly provides the activity and perhaps investing in more different types of activities, such as Fever often also has very original outings.
App of the Week
GetYourGuide is also a great app and can help you get to know your own country or another country better. Going out, gaining new experiences and learning more about, for example, the history of a country: that is often a lot of fun to do. GetYourGuide is also very good in terms of customer service: our experience is that they respond quickly and do not make too hard to give money back if something goes completely wrong.
You will find a every Monday on Androidworld Best apps of the week and every Saturday we discuss an app in our section App of the week. If you are looking for fun apps, then you have come to the right place at Androidworld. Search our large database of apps using the links below.
