German Mario Kart player sets an incredible record
For the German speedrunner Daniel Burbank, a dream has come true: after several years, the Mario Kart expert has finally managed to set the fastest time on all 32 tracks of the N64 racer Mario Kart 64 and thus set an incredible record.

Update:
It took several years, but now Mario Kart 64 speed runner Daniel Burbank has finally achieved his goal: He pauses all 32 best times of the game at the same time and is therefore the first player to have achieved this feat. The last stretch Burbank still lacked for the record was Sherbet Land.
So far, his best time on the icy course was 1:55:09. In a live stream, however, he was able to top this time again and get up 01:55:07 Since then he has shared first place with Matthias Rustemeyer, who years ago also tried to break all 32 course records, but narrowly failed. We have embedded the video of the last race that helped Burbank set the record here:
Original article:
It’s about Matthias Rustemeyer, who started his hunt for best times in the racing game back in 2008 – ten years ago. Since that day it has set numerous records and is number one on 31 of the 32 routes worldwide. The outstanding record, on the other hand, is a particularly tricky challenge.
According to a report by Kotaku magazine, this is mainly due to the fact that a kind of alliance has now formed in the speedrunner community. She wants to prevent by all means that Rustemeyer cracks the last record in Mario Kart 64 and thus would be the “sole ruler” in this category. (Source: Kotaku)
Incidentally, the route in question is “Donkey Kong’s Jungle Parkway”, which is considered one of the most demanding disciplines in the classic racing game. Rustemeyer was only recently able to undercut the record, but almost at the same time one of his competitors – Daniel Burbank – was three hundredths faster.
Back then, those were the launch titles for the Nintendo 64
However, this will not dissuade the German from his plan to soon become the sole record holder. The next attempts are already underway, and maybe he will actually succeed in the near future.
