German company develops solar roof tiles – for almost every roof

The expansion of renewable energies is and remains an important challenge. In Germany, the phase-out of nuclear energy is imminent. Nevertheless, the power supply should of course remain guaranteed. In order for this to work, intelligent power grids are required that generate electricity from wind and sun during the day and store it for periods of low yield.
But every homeowner can also participate. Because solar systems have been around for decades. Today they are probably more affordable than ever. For all those for whom multiple modules are too cumbersome the German company Autarq now a solution ready. Because the manufacturer has developed roof tiles with built-in solar cells.
Solar roof tiles generate enough electricity for a family
The technology seems to have potential, so made it Tesla already some years ago. Now a solution is coming from Germany that promises a lot. Because as Autarq announces, the solar roof tiles should generate enough electricity to supply a family throughout the year.
If the company installs around 1,000 roof tiles, up to 10,000 kilowatt hours per year are possible. The costs for the construction of a normal house roof are around 40,000 euros. If the roof is already in place, the costs are reduced to around 10,000 to 20,000 euros.
With an electricity price of 33.9 cents per kilowatt hour, the investment for 1,000 roof tiles is recouped after three (existing roof) or ten years (new roof).
Roof tiles as a solar system: Autarq wants to reduce the price
In the coming years, Autarq wants to make the technology even more attractive. So far, the company has been manufacturing the solar roof tiles in its own factory in Germany. The process is relatively manual. However, if production is scaled up, production is outsourced abroad or more robots are used, the price could be reduced.
At the same time, state subsidies also play a role in the German company’s hands. Because the federal government has been promoting the modernization or construction of new buildings with sustainable energy sources for years.
