Gearbest is back (for long?)
You certainly know that the Chinese high-tech product site Gearbest has closed its doors since the beginning of September. Rumors had been rife for a few weeks with employees leaving because they were overpaid, very long delivery times, difficulties with refunds, out of stock all the way and crazy prices. Nothing to do with what made the success of this strong competitor of AliExpress. If the company is not yet officially bankrupt, the losses of the last 3 years are colossal and the chances of finding a buyer are slim.
There he is again!
But now, on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, the site reappeared as if by magic! We had difficulty logging in (we received an email warning us of possible ID theft), but the order history and tickets are still there. It is possible to send messages, but some pages are inaccessible. In short, it smacks of being put back online in a hurry. Moreover, between the time of starting this article and finishing it, the site was accessible once in two from France by posting an Italian version.
Don’t order from Gearbest!
Please note, the return of the site does not mean that the company is no longer bankrupt. It is important not to place an order on Gearbest at this time. On the other hand, the reactivation of the site can be good news for customers who would like to follow up their order or their dispute.
For our part, we stopped collaborating with Gearbest in June for our Good Deals section. We were no longer paid as an affiliate and had received feedback from readers who were no longer happy with the service. We have changed for the site Banggood which is showing good signs of health so far.
