Buying a new graphics card needs careful consideration. After all, the latest and therefore most powerful models are anything but cheap. A Amazon customer from Brazil now has to experience a nasty surprise. Instead of an Nvidia graphics card for around 2,600 euros, he only gets a box full of sand.
The customer named Mauricio shows in a TikTok video how he opens the package. From the outside, the box of the Palit Geforce RTX 3090 Ti GameRock still looks normal. However, Mauricio got himself already there surprised at the unusual weight, so he asked his wife to film him unpacking. At least for the video it was worth it. There is no graphics card in the box, but three containers filled with worthless sand. This was probably there to fool the customer into thinking the weight of a real graphics card.

According to the TikTok video, Mauricio didn’t buy the graphics card from a third-party seller, but from Amazon itself. While he’s in the video still reacted with a lot of gallows humorthen the really annoying chapter in the history of the missing graphics card begins: the dispute with Amazon customer support.

Customer service is said not to have helped Mauricio even after several messages. Even more curious: after several days, customer support sent him an email with a link. A link that Mauricio could delete his own Amazon account. The now justifiably angry owner of three jars of sand then filed a lawsuit against Amazon. Some Brazilian media are also said to have picked up the story. Hopefully this attention will help Amazon either send him a real graphics card or at least give him the money back.
