From now on, trade in your old devices at MediaMarkt

More and more companies make it possible to trade in your old devices for rewards or discounts on a new purchase. The government’s old-for-new scheme sometimes even makes this mandatory. In addition to benefiting consumers, it is also much better for the climate.

Collecting old technology makes it much easier to recycle, refurbish or reuse items. Read more about trading in your devices at the MediaMarkt in this article.

You can now also return your old device to the MediaMarkt when purchasing a new one. Think for example of laptops, mobile phones, tablets, gaming consoles or cameras. But also washing machines, refrigerators and other larger appliances. They do this in collaboration with Foxway: a company with a great deal of expertise in circular technology. In addition, Foxway also ensures that all data on the old devices is carefully deleted.

Media market and the fight against environmental change

MediaMarkt hopes to contribute to the fight against environmental change with this service and also to motivate consumers to participate. With this initiative, Mediamarkt wants to take a good step towards a circular economy and also limit electronic waste. And limiting waste pays off: by 2022, MediaMarkt will have reduced their electronic waste by up to 8,700 tons and their CO² emissions will have been reduced by 87.5% since 2015.

How does it work?

Do you want to trade in an old device for a new one at the Mediamarkt? If you hand in an old device, you will receive a store credit for the purchase of a new product. The size of this credit is determined based on the condition of the old device. MediaMarkt then has these devices refurbished and upgraded. Subsequently, these articles come on the market again, so that reuse takes place.

Handing in large appliances

Returning old devices is now possible by appointment at all MediaMarkt stores in the Benelux. There is also the option to send the old device or have it picked up by the MediaMarkt carrier. Having it collected is useful, for example, if you want to trade in your old washing machine or refrigerator.

Hand in small appliances at a PostNL point

Smaller devices, such as a shaver or smartphone, can be handed over to the delivery person or handed in yourself at a PostNL point. By combining the delivery of the new product with the collection of the old, MediaMarkt also prevents unnecessary extra CO² being emitted by having to transport the old devices separately.
