Fried iPhone? This iPhone video is going viral on TikTok
It was already known that the iPhone is water resistant. This TikTokker now takes it a step further: apparently your iPhone can also be fried.

iPhone falls into frying pan on TikTok
Frying your iPhone doesn’t sound like the best plan, but it happened to Malaysian chef Zaiem. The cook recorded a video in which he showed his followers how to make fried chicken. However, during filming, the worst case scenario happened: Zaiem dropped his phone into the boiling deep fryer.
Surprisingly, the iPhone did not stop filming after the fall, so everything was recorded on its TikTok. Zaiem’s TikTok shows how he is cooking, but accidentally drops the iPhone into the deep fryer. Watch the video below:
iPhone also oil resistant in addition to water resistant?
Miraculously, the iPhone survives the incident. On the TikTok, Zaiem fishes out the iPhone again and the device also seems to work afterwards. After cleaning the phone completely, Zaiem closes the video, with another working iPhone. It is of course impossible to determine whether it is the same iPhone, but it seems to be. It is also unclear which iPhone Zaiem has.
Whether the iPhone will still work properly after a long time remains to be seen, Zaiem has been very lucky for now. It is quite possible that the iPhone has suffered internal damage. It is therefore not realistic to call the iPhone oil-resistant, but it is good to know that your iPhone can take a beating (and a drop). In any case, it remains a smart plan to keep your phone away from boiling oil.
Your iPhone can withstand dust and water
Your iPhone can withstand water, since the iPhone 7 iPhones are at least water resistant. iPhones that are water resistant have a so-called IP67 certification. This means that your iPhone can stay under water for a maximum of 30 minutes and no more than one meter deep. For example, your iPhone can withstand a fall in the toilet, but it is wise to remove it immediately. Incidentally, these iPhones are also dustproof.

Newer iPhones (from the iPhone XS) even have an IP68 certification. These smartphones are not only water resistant, but also waterproof and therefore remain usable when you hold them under water. There are limits to this: a waterproof iPhone may not be submerged deeper than 3 meters. Check here whether your phone is water resistant or waterproof.
