Free Apple Music trial reduced to just one month

Bad news for those hoping to be able to listen to music for free for three months soon. Apple has shortened the Apple Music trial subscription to just one month.

Only one month left for Apple Music trial

Since the introduction of Apple Music in 2015, the service has always had one major advantage over, for example, Spotify. Apple offered new Music users a three-month trial subscription. This gave you plenty of time to discover whether the music service meets your needs.

Unfortunately, that fun is over. Anyone who wants to try Apple Music from now on will receive a free trial subscription of only one month. This means that Apple’s music service no longer distinguishes itself from the competition. He always gave away a free subscription of one month.

It is still possible to get a longer trial period, but you have to purchase an audio product from Apple for that. If you buy AirPods Pro, AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Max, some Beats headphones, or a HomePod mini, you can listen to Apple Music for free for six months.

It is not the first time that Apple has shortened the trial period of one of its services. After the introduction of Apple TV Plus, you could view the entire range for free for a year when you purchase an iPhone, iPad or Mac. Today it is only three months.

Is Apple Benefiting From Spotify Controversy?

However, it is striking that Apple is limiting the Music trial subscription right now. Market leader Spotify has been in the news frequently in recent weeks. Joe Rogan sometimes invites guests to his podcast who express controversial opinions about the coronavirus. Artists like Neil Young then decided to remove their music from Spotify because the company wouldn’t do enough to fight fake news.

Perhaps many Spotify users are now switching to Apple Music for the same reason. Apple obviously has an interest in getting these new customers to pay as quickly as possible. That could be a reason to shorten the free subscriptions.
