four new features (and a lower price)

Rumors of a new Apple TV coming this year have been rumored before, and it seems more and more likely that this is indeed the case. The new Apple TV 2022 will get four new features and will also be cheaper.

Read on after the ad.

New Apple TV with four new features

Last June we wrote that the new Apple TV would get a better chip. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, that information is correct. Gurman expects an Apple TV in 2022 that will get four new features.

1. Faster chip for Apple TV 2022

Gurman says the new Apple TV will get an A14 Bionic chip. That’s the same chip that’s in all iPhone 12 models and in the fourth-generation iPad Air. The previous version (Apple TV 4K) has an A12 Bionic chip. The faster A14 chip should mainly ensure faster performance.

2. More working memory

According to Gurman, the new Apple TV will also have 4GB of RAM. That is 1GB more than its predecessor. He also expects faster performance and faster response times from this.

3. New Version Siri Remote

References were found in the code of the iOS 16 beta to a new version of the Siri Remote for Apple TV. However, it is not clear what new functions the remote control will get. The remote may receive a U1 chip for Find My support.

4. Lower price: better for your wallet

Kuo indicates that the new Apple TV will be made cheaper. That could mean that the new Apple TV Plus will be a bit cheaper again. The current Apple TV 4K has a starting price of 199 euros, you can still buy the older Apple TV HD for about 159 euros.

New Apple TV in 2022

The Apple TV 4K was announced in April 2021 and hit the market a month later. It’s not common for a new Apple TV to come out every year. That’s why it might take another year. But both Kuo and Gurman tend to be very reliable with their predictions, so we’re still expecting an Apple TV in 2022.

Gurman recently said that there probably won’t be an Apple event this month. If the new Apple TV with four new features does indeed appear this year, it will probably be done via a press release.
