Ford debauchery Apple Car manager Doug Field
Ford poached Doug Field, who was an executive in charge of the Apple Car. He becomes the head of advanced technology and embedded systems within the American automaker.
Doug Field leaves Apple for Ford
Doug Field seems to enjoy moving from one company to another anyway. He had worked at Apple from 2008 to 2013, before moving to Tesla as vice president of engineering…. to finally return to Apple. And now he is still leaving the company to switch to Ford. We can even say that he is returning to Ford, since he started his career there.
Work on the Apple Car could see a major setback with the departure of Doug Field, the project having suffered from multiple leadership issues over the years. The executive was in command with Bob Mansfield then John Giannandrea. This suggests in any case that the Apple car will not see the light of day in 2024 …
“His talent and commitment to innovation that improves customer lives will be invaluable as we move forward with our Ford + plan to deliver great products, better customer relationships and better customer relationships. constantly improving user experiences ”, said Jim Farley, CEO of Ford, in a statement. “We are delighted that Doug has chosen to join Ford and help write the next extraordinary chapter for this great company.”.
For its part, Apple is satisfied with a brief statement: “We are grateful for Doug’s contributions to Apple and we wish him the best in this new chapter”.
And as Mark Gurman notes, this is the fourth departure for the management of the Apple Car in six years. “Absolutely crazy and a rare public failure for Apple”, notes the journalist.
