Flagships for 2022 officially introduced

The moment that several smartphone enthusiasts have been waiting for is over. We are talking about the official presentation of the Xiaomi 12 flag series. As expected, the Chinese company will once again offer the best that today’s flagships can boast. It even adds some extra specialties. Xataka was the first web portal to publish information on the Internet.

Xiaomi 12 is a great start to 2022

Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro are the flagships for 2022. The models have several advantages. In addition to the beautiful slim body and minimalist frames, Xiaomi will pleasantly surprise you with the overall design as such. This is a really nice device. We’ll see how we feel about it after the first live rehearsal. In our opinion, the design is successful. In the middle of the upper part of the screen, the front “selfie” sensor has found its place, which is placed in the so-called “hole-punch” cutout. The fingerprint scanner is located directly on the screen.

Xiaomi 12 is a very light and relatively compact smartphone, which is indicated by the weight of 180 grams. The back is said to be rough, which minimizes the risk of the mobile slipping out of the hand. The display has a 6.28-inch diagonal. Today, it is one of the smaller ones. It is an AMOLED panel with Full HD + resolution, 20: 9 aspect ratio and a high refresh rate of 120 Hz. The display boasts support for HDR10 + and Dolby Vision display technology. The maximum brightness reaches 1,100 rivets. The screen itself is protected by a durable Corning Gorilla Glass Victus glass.

In addition to a great visual experience, the user will also see promising audio output. The Xiaomi 12 features Harman Kardon-signed stereo speakers. The new flagship also needs a new processor. Xiaomi, of course, opted for the latest from the American giant Qualcomm. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, which is manufactured using 4 nm technology, is therefore located inside the device. The chip is therefore able to provide support for recording HDR videos in 8K resolution with the application of a “bokeh” effect. AI performance has also grown considerably, and the new Adreno 730 graphics accelerator, which is up to 30 percent more powerful than its predecessor, is definitely worth mentioning.

This processor also ensures seamless connectivity. Of course, we have support for 5G, Bluetooth 5.2, WiFi 6 or WiFi 6E. There will be several memory variants available. The base model has 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal user data storage. The best-equipped edition then offers up to 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory. RAM is LPDDR5 type and flash memory is USF 3.1 type.

The endurance is taken care of by a 4,500 mAh battery, which supports a fast form of charging up to a maximum output of 67 W. Charging takes place via a USB-C connector, but 50 W wireless charging is also available. You can charge your accessories or other phone thanks to 10 W reverse charging. The operating system became the latest Android 12, covered by a robust graphical extension MIUI 13.

The 13 MP ultra wide angle sensor then features a 123-degree angle of view. The 32 MP telephoto lens allows you to take photos with 5x optical zoom. At the same time, it is possible to create macro photos with its help. Xiaomi 12 will be sold in green, blue, black and pink. What is the difference between Xiaomi 12 and its “Pro” version?

To put it bluntly, the differences are minimal. The Xiaomi 12 is simply the most compact flagship of this manufacturer since the time of the Xiaomi Mi 8. The Xiaomi 12 Pro is designed for those who like larger displays. It comes with a 6.73-inch AMOLED screen with higher QHD + resolution, which features the new LTPO 2.0 technology, which allows dynamic change of the panel refresh rate from 0 Hz to 120 Hz. Its selection depends on the content displayed on the screen.

The great news is that both variants are equally powerful, as they have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. The Xiaomi 12 Pro has a slightly larger, 4,600 mAh battery that supports up to 120 W charging. However, the performance of wireless and reverse charging remains the same. The recently introduced Surge P1 chip has been implemented in the “Pro” model and ensures that the phone is not significantly warm while charging with such a powerful adapter.

The primary cameras remain the same, but in the case of the Xiaomi 12 Pro, the ultra-wide sensor should be significantly better, along with the telephoto lens. The resolution of these cameras has grown to an amazing 50 MP. However, the optical zoom was reduced to 2-fold magnification.

The competition for the new products just presented are flagships from other manufacturers. So it’s about Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S21 series or Huawei P50 and Huawei P50 Pro. The Xiaomi 11T Pro from its own production is also a great competitor.
