Fitbit unveils Versa 4, Sense 2 and Inspire 3 also presented

These are the new Fitbit wearbles for 2022

Fitbit has just presented three new wearables. It concerns successors of the Fitbit Inspire 2, Fitbit Versa 3 and Sense, which were presented last year. If you buy one of the new devices, you get six months of free access to Fitbit Premium. With this paid service (8.99 per month) you get more information about, among other things, your sleeping behaviour, workouts or heart rate.

Inspire 3: for the loafers

At first glance, the Fitbit Inspire 3 gets the biggest update: a color screen. Thanks to this AMOLED screen, you can immediately see more information about your health, steps taken, time or other information. With the fitness tracker, Fitbit focuses on the novice athlete and people who consider health important.

You use the device to measure your heart rate or sleep behaviour, but also for stress and workouts. It will be on the market in September 99.95 euros, is already available to order, and is available in black, orange and light purple. You can also purchase separate straps, so that it fits better with your outfit.

Fitbit Versa 4 official: measure more about health

The Versa 3 has received a successor: the Fitbit Versa 4. The device looks a lot like its direct predecessor, but the housing has been completely redesigned. That means it’s a lot smaller, but also lighter: 15 percent. The center of gravity has also been lowered, so that the Versa 4 fits better on your wrist. Finally, the physical button is back on the watch case; convenient for operation during exercise.

The Versa 4 comes in three colors and has a suggested retail price of 229.95 euros. You can pre-order now and the release will take place in September. The watch lasts about six days on a single battery charge, but that also depends on the use. Thanks to the built-in GPS module, you don’t always have to take your smartphone with you. With the Versa 4, the company is targeting people who are already quite active in the field of sports and health.

The watch now offers even more sport modes. You can get started with weightlifting, crossfit, dancing or HITT training. A microphone for making calls via bluetooth is also present. In terms of software, a new interface has been chosen, which you can make your own using ’tiles’.

Fitbit Sense 2: the most comprehensive of the trio

The new Sense 2 is the most comprehensive wearable and can do everything the Versa 4 has to offer and more. For example, there is a cEDA sensor on board that constantly measures your stress level, without you having to do anything. Every person experiences stress in a different way and because of different stimuli. The heart rate monitor is even more accurate and can also continuously measure your heart rate, or check whether you suffer from atrial fibrillation (a heart rhythm disorder) and warn you about it.

If you receive a notification from the Sense 2, you will also immediately be presented with various options. For example, you can start a breathing session to relax or a mindfulness training. In addition, you can indicate what mood you are in, so that the watch can learn from it.

The suggested retail price of the Fitbit Sense 2 is 299.95 euros and is therefore three tens cheaper than its predecessor. You can choose from several colors, where it is also possible to buy other types of straps. Straps from the previous models can also be used, as they are exactly the same. You can pre-order from today and the release is in September.

Google Wallet and Google Maps integration coming soon

Android Planet has asked Fitbit why it has not chosen Wear OS, the wearable operating system from Google. The answer to that is that not all Fitbit devices would be suitable for that – and because Fitbit isn’t just targeting smartwatch users.

The new Versa 4 and Sense 2 run on an improved version of the Fitbit operating system. A disadvantage is that there is no longer any support for third-party applications. You can also not install apps that are available to you for the Versa 3 or Fitbit Sense on the new smartwatches.

Furthermore, the company has chosen not to add music integration, but to focus entirely on health and sports. In the coming months, integration will be added for Google Wallet and Google Maps. So you can pay from your wrist or navigate without reaching for your phone.

Irregular heart rhythm notifications for more users

Finally, Fitbit says that it will be possible to identify signs of atrial fibrillation on many older wearables. The heart rhythm is assessed when you are sitting still or sleeping, for example.

Which is handy, because users can then go to their doctor or general practitioner for further research. When the function will roll out exactly is still the question, but it will come to the Fitbit Charge 5, Charge 4, Luxe, Inspire 2, Sense, Versa 2, Versa 3 and of course the new products.
