Fitbit Charge 5 and Luxe cannot sync with Android 13 Samsungs

Do you have sporty resolutions that you want to measure with a Fitbit Charge 5 or Luxe? Good idea, but hopefully you don’t have a Samsung phone running Android 13. These two Fitbit wearables cannot sync with Android 13 Samsungs. A fix is coming, but it’s not available at the moment.

Samsungs on Android 13

2023 is just around the corner, completely fanatically in the starting blocks for your good intention to lose some weight, get fitter or record the daily 10,000 steps for your Vitality app. That’s a great idea: definitely do, but you may find that your Fitbit devices won’t sync with your phone when you’re using a Samsung on Android 13. Fitbit (via Sammobile) is working on a patch to fix things, but it hasn’t arrived yet. We don’t expect it to come before January 1 either…

For example, if you have a Galaxy Z Flip 3, Z Fold 4 or Galaxy S22, your steps, workouts and sleep will not be synchronized with your phone from your Fitbit for a while. The exact cause is unknown, but it is thought that Samsung’s software side is going wrong. On Galaxy Z Flip 3, it would have been solved for some users, but not everyone yet.

Fix from Fitbit

Although it may be due to Samsung’s software, Fitbit comes with a fix. However, this is not promised very soon, but in ‘early 2023’. That means that it may just be that you cannot register what you do in sports during the first month, maybe two months of the new year. Very disappointing if you pay for a Vitality subscription, for example. There are, of course, ways to record it anyway: use an old phone, use your work device, your partner’s or best friend’s, or see if the Samsung health app can track your steps instead of your Fitbit. However, it’s not all ideal.
