The first patch of Android 13 follows shortly after the launch of this operating system in August 2022. With the help of this patch, the Android version for Pixel should be five issues poorer.

Pixel always first smartphone with latest Android

Traditionally, the first patch always follows shortly after the launch of a new Android version. The Pixel phones are in fact the phones on which Android is being developed and tested. Also, Android is always rolled out first for Pixel phones, which is why Pixel users are often the fastest to discover problems and bugs. So the users of pixels are actually a bit of guinea pigs.

On the other hand, of course, they know for sure that the very best people at Google are on the check-line to solve problems with their hardware. Of course, this applies to a lesser extent to other smartphone makers, especially to unknown brands.

Other manufacturers take a little longer to adapt Android 13 to their device. For example, according to persistent rumors, Samsung will roll out Android 13 on October 17 or 19, 2022. Brands with a less active update policy, such as many Chinese budget brands, will roll out Android 13 later, or not at all. A somewhat later update also has advantages. That means that the teething problems are gone.

Android 13’s first patch fixes wireless charging and high battery consumption

One of those problems was that Android 13 interferes with wireless charging on certain devices, such as the Pixel 4. The “launcher” (graphical shell) of Android 13 also appears to cause quite a bit of battery consumption and communication via Bluetooth does not always run smoothly.

This should be resolved with these new fixes. For example, both battery problems are a thing of the past, the collectivity of Bluetooth has also been improved and the new fix prevents messages on a lockscreen from being only half readable. The biometric sensor has also been improved, making fingerprint scans work better.
