Firmware 10M229 available for Apple’s MagSafe charger

In addition to offering an update for its AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, Apple is offering new firmware (10M229) for its MagSafe charger.

Update 10M229 for MagSafe charger

The MagSafe charger previously had firmware 9M5069. Now it’s also upgrading to the 10M229 update. However, there is not the slightest information about the changes. Only Apple knows them, the group having decided not to share them publicly (which is a shame).

The story is similar with AirPods where each update is not entitled to its changelog. But users can at least try to find possible novelties by digging through the menus. Here, the MagSafe charger improves … without knowing the differences. Better wireless charging for iPhones? AirPods? Something else ?

There is no public method to force installation of new firmware for the MagSafe charger. You can try to plug it into the mains and put your iPhone or the case of your AirPods (with the headphones in) to try to force the download and the installation of the update.

For information, the MagSafe charger was launched in the fall of 2020 and costs 45 euros. It has seen at least one update before this one today.
