Find ruins of murmuring cave and ornament

Similar to the base game of Horizon Forbidden West, there is also a relic ruin in the Burning Shores DLC that you have to solve to find a lost ornament inside. In this guide, we’ll explain how to solve the ruined relic murmuring cave in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores and solve the lost relic inside.

Where is the Murmuring Cave relic ruin in the HFW DLC?

The Los Angeles relic ruin you’re looking for is pretty central on the map, about halfway between the main Quen settlement and Pangea Park to the southeast. The relic ruin Mumbling Cave is right next to a shelter with a campfire, which is why you can also fast travel there. You can quickly recognize the ruins by the cracks in the ground, where you will find old wagons and locked doors.

How do I open the doors in Burning Shores’ Mumbling Cave?

In order to open the door in the Los Angeles Relic Ruins and find the ornament behind it, you must first leave the crack in the ground again and go to the nearby shelter on the surface. Here, on the abyss behind the campfire, there is a beam that you can abseil down.

So abseil, turn around and use your spear to break open the wagon on the left. Now climb in, walk around the lever and press it so that the wagon drives out a bit and opens a passage behind you. Now leave the wagon again and remove the now accessible energy cell on its side front.

With the energy cell you now run through the passage in front of you and then put it in the corresponding device of the other wagon right behind the passage. Now run around the wagon again and break the door. Jump in and pull the lever to make the wagon move forward as well.

Find the door code for the Murmuring Cave relic ruin

Now run back to see that a door with an access code has now been revealed. In order to get the lost ornament, you now have to find the right access code for the door. In order to do that, you have to get a flying machine, i.e. a sun wing or a water wing.

Leave the murmuring cave and use the flying machine to fly up to the roof to open a hatch with the machine’s help. Jump in there and climb up the elevator shaft inside. If you scan the area, you will find a data log with the access code for the door below. You can also save yourself this step by entering the corresponding code directly. The code for the door in the Mumbling Cave is 1315.

Find the key module to the second door in the Muttering Cave.

If you have entered the correct door code, you can enter and collect the ornament on the left. But next to the ornament you see another locked door. You have to open it to find out what the eponymous murmur in the murmuring cave relic ruin is all about.

So to open the other doors in the Mumbling Cave, you run back to the wagon where the power cell stuck, take it out and return with it to the door next to the ornament. Here’s a power cell charger. So put your power cell in and the door will open for you.

You’ll find this behind the door with the power cell additional key module, which you can use to open the other door in the Mumbling Cave. So leave this room and go to the door opposite. Now use the additional key module to open the door. If you do that, Aloy unexpectedly meets an old acquaintance and starts the side quest “A Friend in the Dark”.
