Finally. You can also unlock your car using your Android 12 smartphone
In May, Google introduced a new feature for Android 12 that will allow users to unlock the car using their smartphone. At the time, she said that the news would come later this year on selected Pixel and Samsung phones. According to the XDA-Developers portal, Google has kept its promise and, along with several new features for Android Auto, is adding support for digital car keys for the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S21 models.
Android 12 and so far only BMW
The novelty currently only works in some countries with a few compatible BMW vehicles. Google is expected to add support for third-party cars soon. Samsung introduced a similar feature earlier this year for the Galaxy S21 +, Galaxy S21 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, but this is currently only compatible with the Genesis GV60 EV.
Android Auto also receives news
In addition, Google adds one new option to Android Auto settings. It automatically launches Android Auto as soon as you connect your smartphone to the car. A button will also be added to the service’s home screen, giving you easy access to your favorite music, and a new icon for quick voice search.
Later, Android Auto also gets the ability to reply to messages with a single click using the Smart Reply feature from Google Assistant.
