Fairphone 3 and 3+ get update to Android 13
They have already appeared in 2019 and 2020 and yet they are now getting an upgrade to Android 13. That can of course only be Fairphone 3 and 3+. The Dutch telephone brand stands for sustainability and therefore offers extremely long support to its devices, as is also proven here. The update is now out for both phones.

While we’re a little disappointed with the update policy of Sony’s Xperia, which only gets two OS updates, it’s Fairphone showing how it can be done. Phones that came out with Android 10 and are now being upgraded to the thirteenth major Android variant. Although we have to say that Fairphone is ‘cheating’ a bit here: the phones have skipped the Android 12 update.
That wasn’t so much ignorance, though: the phone maker indicated that the Qualcomm chipset it was using, Snapdragon 632, didn’t support Android 12. Fortunately, that can be skipped and the phones really matter again now that they’re running Android 13 . That is the current version of Android: number fourteen is expected in the autumn.

It may also come to Fairphone 3, because Fairphone wants to provide its phones with Android upgrades at least five years after launch. In fact, in the case of Fairphone 3, it even hopes to include Android 15 and perhaps even higher: the team hopes that the last upgrade will come in 2026. That means that you can really use the same device for many years to come and mother earth, but also your wallet, will be very happy with that.
