Facebook will completely change and be inspired by TikTok

TikTok is a hit and Facebook, although it is the first social network in terms of number of users, is running out of steam. Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has therefore planned an overhaul. The goal: to draw strong inspiration from TikTok.

Meta is working on a major overhaul of Facebook’s main feed that will put a heavy emphasis on recommended content from pages, creators and people you don’t already follow, according to a memo from Tom Alison, a Facebook executive who oversees Meta. ‘main application of the social network, which was published by The Verge.

The leader says the goal is to turn Facebook into a “discovery engine,” which would rely heavily on recommendations, like TikTok’s “For You” feed. Recommendations would mostly come from offline content, including Reels, and users would see fewer posts from friends and family in their feed. The plan also includes bringing Messenger’s inbox back into Facebook’s main app to encourage users to share more content from the infamous “discovery engine.”

The new version of Facebook should therefore highlight videos such as Reels and stories, and less content from friends. Above all, we see that Facebook is once again copying TikTok. The social network has already copied an impressive number of features from its competitor. Nothing but Reels is a carbon copy of TikTok.

It remains to be seen now when the changes will be in place. This information is currently not shared.
