Face ID below the screen won’t be available until the iPhone 16 in 2024
Are you done with the notch and would you rather not have holes in your screen? According to this rumor you will have to wait a little longer for that one all screeniPhone you dream of. The iPhone 16 is only the first iPhone with the Face ID sensors under the screen.

The ‘perfect’ iPhone will have to wait a little longer
iPhones have had a notch since the iPhone X in 2017. This is a bite from the screen, in which the selfie camera and Face ID sensors are hidden. With the arrival of the iPhone 13, this notch finally became a bit smaller and the iPhone 14 Pro seems to be replacing the notch for two small holes in the screen. According to well-known tasty Ross Young the Face ID sensors only disappear under the screen on the iPhone 16. That will take at least another 2.5 years. The rumor goes against an earlier rumor of The Elec in. This source stated that the iPhone 15 would already have Face ID sensors under the screen in 2023.
young says, however, that the entire iPhone 15 series will have two holes in the screen, just like the iPhone 14 Pro. That means a pill-shaped hole for the Face ID sensors and a circular cutout for the selfie camera. In this way, Apple has a little longer time to ensure that Face ID works optimally, even if the sensors are under the screen.
The rumor says nothing about the future of the selfie camera. So it remains to be seen whether this also eventually disappears under the screen. Current smartphones with under displaySelfie cameras make a big sacrifice in photo quality. We don’t think Apple would make this concession – eventually the manufacturer will surely find a solution with no (or minimal) drawbacks.
