Xiaomi 12 Series
Xiaomi has announced its 12 series of new top devices in China at the end of 2021, but the phones will also be for sale in Dutch stores from April 1. You can pre-order the Xiaomi 12, 12X and 12 Pro from now on. According to Xiaomi, the trio consists of powerhouses that received a special focus on camera performance and entertainment.

Matt finish and speakers
The phones are finished with a housing made of Corning Gorilla Glass that has been given a matte finish so that fingerprints are barely visible. Xiaomi uses slimmer, high-capacity batteries to save space in the case. This frees up space for speakers, among other things. The 12 Pro has an arrangement of two tweeters and two woofers developed by Harman Kardon. They should produce a realistic and deep sound and support Dolby Atmos sound effects when you watch movies and series on your phone.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro will be launched with a 6.73-inch OLED screen. The panel has a high QHD resolution and there is a small notch in the middle. It is an LTPO screen, which is a more economical panel with a variable refresh rate that only shows smooth animations when desired. The Xiaomi 12 and the 12X, on the other hand, have a smaller 6.28-inch panel. An OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a Full HD resolution.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is the engine of the Xiaomi 12 and the Xiaomi 12 Pro, while the 12X comes with a lighter Snapdragon 870 processor. There are several storage variants available, but the cheapest Xiaomi 12X comes with at least 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The Xiaomi 12 Pro then goes up to a maximum of 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
The Pro version is also the largest device and therefore appears with a 4,600 mAh battery, while the 12 and 12X have a 4,500 mAh version. Xiaomi ships its most powerful phone with a 120W charger that can fully charge the smartphone in 18 minutes. Both the Xiaomi 12 Pro and the Xiaomi 12 use Xiaomi AdaptiveCharge. It’s a smart charging algorithm that adapts to your charging habits and extends battery life.

Three 50 MP cameras
As for the camera, the Xiaomi 12 Pro relies on a triple 50MP camera setup. It is a main lens with a large 1/1.28″ sensor, a telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom and a wide-angle camera. The Xiaomi 12 and the 12X got a different set-up, consisting of a slightly smaller 50 MP main camera, a 13 MP wide-angle camera and a 5 MP telephoto macro camera, the latter lets you zoom in extra on small details.The selfie camera of the Xiaomi 12 series is a 32 MP copy.
In addition to hardware improvements, the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro, as mentioned earlier, also feature revamped AI algorithms. These make it easier to capture photos in low light or moving objects. The Xiaomi ‘ProFocus’ identifies and tracks objects with the aim of avoiding blurry or out-of-focus shots of moving or hidden subjects. The autofocus for eyes and face have also been improved. Thanks to Ultra Night Video, you can also record videos in low light.
Xiaomi also announces a partnership with YouTube. Customers who purchase a Xiaomi smartphone get three months of free access to YouTube Premium, which allows them to watch videos ad-free and offline. In addition, customers also get YouTube Music Premium.
