Even in the Czech Republic, you can now unlock the car directly with your Android phone
A few hours ago, the American giant Google announced the December Pixel Feature Drop, which is a traditional big wave of news for selected mobile phones, led by its Pixels. From the list of interesting news, the option is definitely worth a separate mention unlock your car with your mobile phone through the native Android system (without tools from other extensions or applications). The gadget, which has been talked about in this format for some time, also officially works in the Czech Republic. Although only in a fairly specific combination of vehicle and mobile phone.
In general, it was unlocked through a “digital car key” or digital car key made available for Google Pixel 6, Google Pixel 6 Pro and Galaxy S21 series phones. Paradoxically, it is Google devices that have this feature active in the Czech Republic, although Pixels are not officially sold here. Another condition is (in our country and elsewhere in the world) use with BMW cars manufactured in 2020 and 2022. If you belong to this very small group of Pixel owners and the latest “Bavarian”, be sure to try unlocking the car.
The novelty so far works on the basis of NFC, so it is needed attach cell phone to car handle. But there is also a variant with UWB, so the vehicles will go unlock at a greater distance. On the mobile side, the digital key is part of the environment that much recalls Google Pay. We can hope that the list of phones and vehicles will expand rapidly.
