This application provides first responders with crucial information to extricate victims in the event of a road accident. An intervention within the hour is vital, and searching for an adequate rescue sheet wastes precious time. Euro Rescue centralizes all available rescue sheets and is operational online and offline.
As vehicles have become tougher, more complex and use alternative energy, it has become increasingly crucial for first responders to know what they can and cannot do at the scene of an accident. Quick response is essential, and rescuers need fast, direct information about a vehicle’s construction to help people extract themselves from wreckage safely. This is why car manufacturers provide “rescue cards” and “emergency intervention guides”.
– A Rescue Sheet is a standardized summary page containing all the crucial information rescuers need to extricate occupants quickly and safely.
– These include the location of components (e.g. airbags and pretensioners) and high voltage electrical cables and batteries, all of which can pose a hazard to trapped occupants and to the rescuers themselves.
– Manufacturers’ Emergency Response Guides contain more detailed instructions to assist first responders during training and are especially important for alternative fuel vehicles.
The centralization of these sheets is carried out by Euro NCAP, in collaboration with the International Association of Fire and Rescue Services (CTIF). For all cars assessed from 2020 onwards, Euro NCAP verifies the content and shares rescue sheets and emergency response guides that comply with the ISO standard for new energy vehicles.
Euro Rescue is launched in English, French, German and Spanish. From 2023, the app will be available in all European languages. Use of the app is not limited to Europe: the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP SAFETY), the region’s independent vehicle safety authority, is also launching today its “ANCAP Rescue” application based on Euro Rescue.
