EU tackles Apple with mandatory USB-C cable

Brussels is going to thwart Apple by requiring USB-C for smartphones. A hard step!

While all brands behind smartphones work neatly unanimously with USB-C, Apple is the only troublemaker with its own cable. Namely the Lightning cable. Remarkable, since the American tech company always talks about the environment. Working with your own cable is not environmentally friendly, but they don’t care about that in Cupertino for the time being.

Yes, in Brussels. The European Parliament is working on an agreement to oblige smartphone suppliers to work with USB-C. This basically doesn’t affect any brand except Apple. The Americans will not be happy about it.

It is expected that Apple will eventually switch to USB-C. When is the question. This new EU agreement could speed things up. Something Apple may not have counted on. On the other hand, they’ve had enough time to make the switch. USB-C is not something that was only introduced last year.
